Goal: |
Continue to grow and develop our scholarship fund to increase NorCal's accessibility |
How: |
Fundraising is one of the most vital aspects of NorCal JSA; without it, we would be unable to function. That's why I want to highlight and emphasize growing our scholarship fund as well as fundraising on a chapter level in order to increase the inclusivity and accessibility of NorCal. I want to introduce chapter fundraising competitions, in which each chapter would make a StayClassy account and would collectively fundraise for their chapter. The chapter who raised the most money by each convention would win a prize like free merchandise or reduced convention costs. This year, the Development Department initiated a number of successful programs like the Miracle Minute and restaurant fundraisers at conventions. I hope to continue these activities next year and spread them throughout the state and to chapters by creating guides to fundraising for chapter presidents. These guides would describe different ways to fundraise from bake sales to contacting businesses for donations. I also want to prioritize getting new merchandise for Fall State. By opening up design submissions to all of NorCal and offering a prize to the winning design, we can engage the larger NorCal JSA population in cabinet decisions to help increase the inclusivity of NorCal. Overall, I would like to place a larger emphasis on the importance of fundraising because, while it may be tedious at times, it ultimately benefits and impacts every single JSA delegate.

Why: |
Increasing our scholarship fund simultaneously increases NorCal's inclusivity and accessibility by ensuring every person has the potential to attend a JSA convention, regardless of socioeconomic status. Our scholarship fund is essential to creating the best JSA experience for all delegates. Introducing initiatives like the chapter fundraising competitions will exponentially grow our scholarship fund by increasing the sheer number of people fundraising. The competitive aspect will help incentivize chapters to fundraise. Giving all delegates the opportunity to create merchandise designs they're proud of helps to foster JSAers that are engaged with cabinet and NorCal as a whole.
